In a previous class, I had the opportunity to learn about a new web 2.0 application that I had never used before, Book Creator. Book Creator can be found on Apple, Google, and Android devices. You can create one book through the application for free or you can purchase the full version for 4.99. In my first experience with Book Creator, I used my one free opportunity to try out this new and innovative web 2.0 tool. The application is extremely user friendly, can be used at all ages, and inspired authentic learning for all of my Pre-K students. I decided to purchase the full version.

I created a sample model posted above with my Pre-K students help. This past spring, we had begun to learn word families, including the -at word family. Through the Book Creator app, I was able to create a learning experience through innovative digital-age work. Using this emerging web 2.0 tool, my students were able to produce a product that not only met the learning objective, but prepared them for more complex objectives that they will engage in later in life.

The Book Creator app, also gave each sudent the opportunity to faciliate and inspire their own creative mindset. It gave the students options on the design, color, layout, pictures, and fonts of their chose. It also provided opportunities for enhancing social skills and fostering collaboration by working together on designing their own book. After creating their book, students became authors, and were proud to take ownership of their own work they had completed. The Book Creator application was a digital tool that promoted independence and provided me as the teacher an opportunity to analyze a students product of the learning objective.
